Thanksgiving Dinner - Service Project

It's a wonderful time of year to serve others as Christ did. Please take a moment to see if you would be willing to provide service.

Lynnelle Pugmire and family are organizing a Thanksgiving dinner as a service project for the Soldiers assigned to the Wounded Warriors Transition Battalion (also known as Task Force Phoenix)  in their new building next to Madigan Hospital.   The soldiers assigned to this Battalion are those who are going to need at least six months of care before transitioning into either normal Army life, or back into civilian life. We are doing it on Thanksgiving Day.  We did it a few Thanksgiving's ago with just our family, when Wounded Warriors was more in the beginning stages and it was a great experience.  It is bigger now and they have a bigger facility with more soldiers.

I am in contact with their  Family Readiness Asst. and he is going to try put up a flier with a sign up sheet to get an idea of how many people to expect.  He thinks about 75 people.  I think there might be some families as well.

I am hoping to get a few volunteers or families willing to donate their Thanksgiving day to helping us make this a very nice event for them.  As of today, they had no one planning anything for Thanksgiving.  I know the soldiers we fed and hung out with were sooo appreciative of us making dinner for them and the kids just played games with them.  It was sad to see one of the very young soldiers, anxious to be picked up by someone who was supposed to get him for dinner at a home and they must have forgot and he was bummed.  He ate with us and hung out with us.

Please let me know thru email or cell phone (text is good too) if you or your family want to help out in any way.
